This is a Wonderful 1870's - 1880's Double Titled Kansas Game Warden & Deputy Sheriff Old West 6 Point Star Badge.
Good sized, at Approximately 2-11/16" in height x 2-3/8" in width. Stamped nickel that never had any plating, and now has a beautiful yellow/brown patina. One piece, saddle-less pin sits in a pool of lead, black with age. Hand stamped badge with early dingbats, putting it right at 1880 give or take. (Kansas enacted Game Laws in the 1870's, and had their first commissioner in 1877...by 1905 the state agencies and badges were in place, but this long predates that level of organization...).
