ARTIFACT: This is a nice wartime hardcover 1944 copy of "God is My Co-Pilot" by World War II fighter ace and "Flying Tiger" with the American Volunteer Group, Colonel Robert L. Scott. Jr. As Group Commander of the Tigers' fighter force. Scott flew a P-40, running missions over Mount Everest more than once. Scott retired in 1957 after attaining the title Brigadier General. He passed away in 2006. The book has its original dust jacket, which is in very good condition, and a nice embossed red cloth cover beneath with an airplane logo. The book's foreword was written by legendary commander Major General (later Lieutenant General) Claire Chennault. A bookplate identifies a previous owner as D. Harland Beebe. Great photos!

VINTAGE: Published 1944 (World War II).

SIZE: 277 pages including black and white illustrations. Approximately 8-1/8" in height and 5-3/4" in width and 7/8" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Glossy dust jacket, embossed cloth-bound cover, thick paper with rough cut edges.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: 1944 Blue Ribbon Books Copyright, 1943, by Robert L. Scott Jr..

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army Air Forces collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. LCEX6/13 SCEX12/16

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The book has some light wear only with some light pinkish discoloration along the edge of the end papers only: very small ding to top edge of cover and some light wear to dust jacket. The pages of the two photos (shown above) were stuck together along the bottom edge so there is very minor tearing (some of the caption words are torn a bit). No writing inside.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
