This is an early Massachusetts Normal Art School (MNAS) lapel pin, possibly for graduation, in 10 karat gold. Founded in 1873, MNAS is today known as Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MASS ART). The pin shows the seal of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in powder blue enamel, along with a white palette and a paintbrush, which is glowing like a torch.
VINTAGE:Circa 1870s-1880s.
SIZE:9/16" length and 5/8" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:10 karat gold with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with "C" catch.
