ARTIFACT: This is a Vietnam War era United States Marine Corps grouping belonging to eventual Lieutenant Colonel Charles Harvey Sullivan of the 3rd Military Police Battalion "D" Company in Vietnam. I believe Sullivan commanded this unit while in Vietnam. The grouping consists of two LARGE size uniforms, one pair of long underwear, two USMC fatigue caps, a belt, a nightstick, a baton holder, a cold weather shooting glove, a 'Retirement' plaque to Sullivan from his replacement MPs, a great USMC 3rd MP BN lighter from Danang dated 1967, a 1963 photograph and his calling card.

VINTAGE: Circa mid 1960s.

SIZE: Both uniforms: LARGE - LONG; Hats: about size 7; Nightstick: 21-13/16" in length x 1-1/4" diameter; Lighter is a FULL SIZE lighter: 2-3/8" x 1-1/2" x 5/8". All other items are various sizes.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Uniforms: cotton wind-resistant poplin; underwear: 50% cotton / 50% wool; other items are of expected materials.

ATTACHMENT: Various.

MARKINGS: Uniforms: LARGE – LONG tag near collar, C.H. SULLIVAN 1 (and 2) written by collar, materials tag near inside bottom of jacket, USMC stamp on jacket left breast pocket, LONG-LARGE tag in pants with number stamp above, trousers material tag and instruction label in pants; underwear: materials stamp on upper reverse; hats: C. H. SULLIVAN A inside one and T RE # in the other with marks on top; nightstick: US and MP at either end; holder: (?) handwritten on reverse; belt: 12 C; glove: USMC 11 imprint; lighter: MADE IN JAPAN; photograph: LT. COL. CHARLES H. SULLIVAN 5 JUL 63.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Marine Corps collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VADJX99/00 LFEJX9/10 SEJJX4/16

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): Items are in various conditions but overall are Very Fine. Uniforms have been laundered, as have caps. One pair of pants has three very small holes (right back pocket, right leg and top left hip), two small red stains (one front and one back) and a few prick holes near one cuff; other pair has small hole in right leg and two small holes in right rear pocket with a small bit of rust by fly. One shirt has a few very small rust stains near the collar and at one cuff. Lighter has been used, but not abused and would work fine with new flint and fluid.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
