ARTIFACT: This is a very rare World War II Civilian Technician hat for a technician working with the United States Navy. The increasingly complex technology that outstripped the skill set of most enlisted men and officers fired the need to engage these civilian specialists with the military. The front of the hat has a great bullion eagle with the rectangular US Technician badge on its breast. The eagle is clutching both an olive branch and a wrench in his talons.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Size 7-1/4.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Khaki twill, leather, wool embroidered in bullion threads, elasticized cotton, embroidery tape, gilt brass, silk, clear plastic.

ATTACHMENT: Buttons for chin strap.

MARKINGS: 7 ¼; FINNEL W. REPA (?) written inside; SOCIETY BRAND HEADWEAR SOCIETY BRAND HAT CO. ST. LOUIS MO.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay KEZAR CON-DB-25-12 LFJJX7/12

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The hat has one surface crack in the visor and some small spots of mothing to the reverse; a few inches of stitching have come out of one side of the liner.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
