This is a very rare Wake Island "V" for victory pin from early World War II. On the day after the Pearl Harbor attack, United States Marine Corps Marine Fighter Squadron (VMF-211) was at Wake Island in the North Pacific and had more than half of their aircraft destroyed by the Japanese. The pin is in red plastic and the bar that once proudly read WAKE ISLAND is somewhat worn.
VINTAGE:Circa early World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 1-9/16" in height and 1-5/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plastic.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety pin.
