ARTIFACT: This is a very rare early World War I visitor badge for the Canadian Red Cross Duchess of Connaught Red Cross Hospital. Built by the Canadian Red Cross in 1914, the hospital was sited at Buckinghamshire, England on the grounds of the Astor family estate, Cliveden. The badge is in sterling silver with two enameled flags (the Union Jack and the Red Cross flag) incorporated in to the design. The badge is by Vaughton of Birmingham.

VINTAGE: Circa early World War I (1914-1915).

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/8" in height and 1-5/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal T-style pin with scrolled C catch.

MARKINGS: VAUGHTON BIRMN STERLING.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The badge shows some light wear and has an overall tarnish.
