Description
This is a very rare sterling silver United States Army combat infantry badge - 3rd award from the 1960s. Along with the Expert Infantryman Badge, the 3rd Award was born from the recognition that infantryman were sure to die or suffer injury in disproportionate numbers compared to other enlisted men. The badge shows a rifle on a blue enameled background wreathed by oak leaves with two stars at its top.
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/16" in height and 3" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver with enamel, brass catches.
ATTACHMENT:Two posts with clutch-back catches.
