This is a very rare 1920s numbered AAA race mechanic (or here called a "mechanician") license badge. AAA began in 1902 when a handful of motor clubs banded together to address the need for more accessible and safe roadways for automobiles.
Approximately 1/2" in height and in 5/8" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Gold-plated brass with enamel.
Single screw post with disc backing and one stabilization post.
Initials (CLX?) carved on backing.
This is from an automobile racing collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay VEJX99 LDEJX1/11
7+ (Very Fine+): The pin shows some light discoloration and wear.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
