Description
This is a nicely maker-marked and unit-marked World War I United States Army grenade pouch, most likely for the 331st Regiment, 91st Division, Company L. The pouch is dated 1918 and was made by the Troy Carriage Sun Shade Company out of differing shades of khaki cotton. The pouch has 13 smaller pouches and there are four cotton straps, one at each corner, rolled up and stowed in pouches.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Approximately 10-1/2" in height and 16-15/16" in width; strap is approximately 41-3/8" in length.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Cotton canvas and plated brass hardware.
ATTACHMENT:Cotton strap with sliding rectangular loop and thirteen snaps.
MARKINGS:THE TROY CARRIAGE SUN SHADE CO. 4-1918 III with possible initials handwritten under a unit mark.
