ARTIFACT: This is a World War II United States Army 10th Mountain Division unit history for 1944 and 1945. The 10th was activated in 1943 as the 10th Light Division (Alpine) and was redesignated as the 10th Mountain Division one year later, serving in the Italian Campaign. Published in 1977 by its editor, Charles Hauptman, this narrative was a period piece written by a few unidentified authors (original "Mountaineers"). The text was found in the Infantry School Library at Ft. Benning, Georgia by Hauptman's son, who was serving there, and it was reworked only slightly for publication and has no illustrations. Included with the booklet is a separate 6-page insert with photocopied maps of the combat route taken by the 10th.

VINTAGE: Published 1977.

SIZE: 76 pages plus a 6-page photcopied insert; approximately 11-1/8" in height and 8-3/4" in width.
