Description
This is a grouping originally belonging to Private (later Corporal) Paul W. DeCicco of the United States Army "M" Company, 308th Infantry (part of the 77th Division). The grouping includes a framed World War I service document from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a World War I wound document, a "History of the 77th Division" book and painted helmet, a "History and Rhymes of the Lost Battalion" book and some miscellaneous veterans' paperwork.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Service document: approximately 15-3/4" in height and 12-3/4" in width; wound document: approximately 20-1/2" in height and 16-1/2" in width; unit history book: (228 pages) approximately 12" in height and 9" in width and 7/8" in thickness; helmet: typical size; "Lost Battalion" book: (140 pages) approximately 7" in height and 5-3/16" in width and 1/2" thick.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Service document: paper, glass, wood, twine; wound document: paper in cellophane on foam board; unit history book: painted, cloth-covered cardboard, paper; helmet: painted steel; Lost Battalion book: oaktag, paper.
ATTACHMENT:Service document: frame has twine; helmet: two metal buckles; both books: glued binding.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): The items are in various conditions but overall are very fine. The helmet has heavy wear with some shallow dings in the top and the Lost Battalion book has some areas of moderate wear to its cover but no internal damage; the other items have been very well preserved.
