Description
This is a stunning and rare World War II Belgian Air Force in Exile pilot wing. After the official Belgian surrender to the Nazi forces in 1940, a small contingent of Belgian pilots in exile joined up with the Royal Air Force. The wing is in bullion and may possibly be British-made. It shows the cypher of Leopold III at center, two tilted "L"s and a Roman numeral III. He ruled Belgium from 1934 until 1951..
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 1-15/16" in height and 5-5/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Wool felt embroidered in bullion and silk threads, velvet details, sequins, muslin and partial paper backing.
