ARTIFACT: This is a sterling World War II Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) War Training Service pilot instructor's wing. In the center of the wing is the head of a Native American man facing right. This was part of The Civilian Pilot Training Program (CPTP) was a flight training program (1938-1944) sponsored by the United States government with the stated purpose of increasing the number of civilian pilots.

VINTAGE: Circa WWII

SIZE: Appr: 3/4" x 3"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling Silver

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with come-under locking catch

MARKINGS: PAT. PEND. STERLING

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Air Force Wing collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MFJX17 LBIEX8/17

CONDITION: 7- (Fine+): Some tarnish, but great patina. Left wing tip (as viewed) is slightly tweaked, so lower grade and lower price. Might get a jeweler to straighten this if no one jumps on the bargain. :)
