This is a great circa 1900 Amherst, New Hampshire fire badge for the hand-tub "Lawrence", and early 19th century hand-pumper, or a water trough on wheels. The Lawrence (pictured above) started out life as the Torrent #4 of Worcester, Massachusetts, and was renamed upon its sale to the New Hampshire town. The badge is numbered 2.
VINTAGE:Circa 1900.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/2" in height and 1-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel-plated brass, painted lettering.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with forked locking catch.
MARKINGS:None.
