Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a Japanese flag presented to a United States Army staff sergeant during the Occupation Period. The flag displays kanji, or characters. The characters, added next to the red sun perhaps as a good luck wish or message. The name of the recipient of this gift is handwritten at the bottom: Richard C. Branham.

VINTAGE:

Circa Occupation Period (mid to late 1940s).

SIZE:

Approximately 27-1/2" in height by 36-1/2" in width (as pictured, not including foam board).

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Silk, leather corners at tabs.

ATTACHMENT:

Two string tabs.

MARKINGS:

None.

ITEM NOTES:

This flag will be shipped unwrapped and folded without the foam board, unless arrangements are made for pick-up or special shipping to preserve the shrink wrap mounting.
