ARTIFACT: This is a hardcover copy of the "The USS Bunker Hill November 1943 November 1944: The Record of a Carrier's Combat Action Against the Axis Nations in the Pacific". Launched on December 7, 1942, the USS Bunker Hill (CV-17) . The book has several black and white and color photographs documenting the ship's activities during the year. Two men were lost on June 6, 1944 when the Independence was hit. The book was published in 1945, and covers the period up until her overhaul in November 1944. After returning to duty, the Bunker Hill was severely hit in May 1945 by a pair of Japanese kamikazes, suffering great losses. She was obliged to sit out the rest of the war.

VINTAGE: Circa 1945.

SIZE: 271 pages with black and white photographs and both black and white color illustrations; approximately 12-1/4" in height and 9-1/4" in width and 13/16" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cloth-bound cover, glossy paper.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The book shows some light wear and has tape marks and stamps inside front and back covers; no rips, stains or writing.
