ARTIFACT: This is a scarce, early sponsor badge for Ducks Unlimited. Established in 1937 in Washington, D.C., the group was formed with an aim to conserve wetlands for the waterfowl hunting. The artwork on the badge is by Richard E. Bishop. Trained to become an engineer, Bishop later famous for his art prints, mostly avian in subject. He designed the third Federal Duck Stamp and won the Charles M. Lea prize for one of his prints.

VINTAGE: Circa 1950s.

SIZE: Approximately 1" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: RICHARD E. BISHOP on front; STERLING AUG. C. FRANK CO. PHILA. PA.
