This is an "unauthorized" patch that was in use from 1922 until 1945. The patch is in bright red wool embroidered in yellow thread, and shows a portcullis at center representing the Isthmus of Panama. A small paper tag reading "Panama Hellgate" is taped on the back.

VINTAGE: Circa 1930.

SIZE: Approximately 3-1/8" in height and 2-3/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wool felt embroidered in cotton/silk threads, partial mesh backing.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: Paper tag reading "Panama Hellgate" taped to reverse.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a 1930s United States Army shoulder patch collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJX14 LAFEX5/14

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The patch has a few small moth bites.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
