ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare Rickenbacker - Berks Motor Co. auto reflector from the 1920s. This lens (reflector) was made to look like the Rickenbacker Automobile Company logo. Eddie Rickenbacker, the leading United States ace of World War I, founded the company and designed the famous Hat-in-the-Ring logo that the 94th Aero Squadron used in the war. He won rights to it in a court battle against the US Army (Air Service) and then used it at other companies he started or at which he acted as CEO during his lifetime. He gave the logo rights back to the USAAF for the squadron to use again in World War II and thereafter. The lens would have been meant to pair with a generic tail light / license plate lamp.

VINTAGE: Circa 1920s.

SIZE: About 5" wide by 6" high.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel and colored glass.

ATTACHMENT: Screw holes.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a large USAAF collection we will be listing over the next few weeks. VADFX07 LCIEX SLOCATEV05/19

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The item shows some minor wear and aging with no cracks in the glass.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
