ARTIFACT:
This is a rare World War II jacket patch for the Marks Army Airfield in Nome, Alaska. Lend-lease aircraft destined for the Soviet Union passed through Marks, and both the USAAF's 404th Bomb Group and 56th Fighter Squadron operated out of Marks. The design of the patch shows a seal on top of a globe.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War II.
SIZE:
Approximately 5" diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Blue felt patch embroidered in multi-colored cotton/silk threads with muslin backing.
