ARTIFACT:

This is a very rare World War II badge for French aviation cadets training in the United States. The badge is for the Centre de Formation du Personnel Navigant en AmŽrique (CFPNA), or Training Centre of Cabin Crew in America, which was formed on February 1, 194The badge is in sterling silver by Cartier and has a great design: three baby chicks, one each in red, white and blue, stand against the profile of a starred and striped eagle. The badge reads ILS GRANDIRONT (they will grow up).

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

About 1" in width by 1" in height.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Sterling silver with red, white and blue enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with a "come-under" locking catch.

MARKINGS:

CARTIER STERLING.
