Description

ARTIFACT:

Rare WWII 834th Bomb Squadron, 486th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force United States Army Air Forces Jacket Patch. The 8th AF entered combat in May 1944 among their many missions, some were bombing airfields, weapon sites, and railroad bridges in preparation for or in support of the invasion of Normandy. The 8th also assisted by bombing enemy installations in support of ground troops during the Battle of the Bulge and the assault across the Rhine. The patch features a scorpion carrying a bomb set against a red background.
