Rare WWI War Savings Stamps (WSS) 1918 Limit Club pin. The Liberty Bonds War Savings Stamps was the U.S. government's attempt to offset the rising costs of the WWI, the campaign raised money by encouraging individuals to demonstrate their patriotism by purchasing a bond. The 'Limit' of government savings bond that one person was allowed to purchase, was set at $1000.00 in 1918, nearly a quarter the cost of an average sized house! The Limit Club pin was given to those individuals who purchased $1000.00 in War Savings Stamps. The oval pin reads: "WSS" down the center against a blue enamel background that is surrounded by a white enamel ring that reads: "LIMIT CLUB 1918"
