This is a scarce hardcover copy of the "Roster 8th New Hampshire Volunteers" along with a tinotype of the book's owner: Sergeant Albert Noyes of Amherst, New Hampshire. We know little about Noyes, save that he served in Company E, 8th N.H.V. He ironically died shortly after surviving the war, on December 21, 1866. He was posthumously memorialized a few years later upon a soldiers' statue erected by his hometown. The book includes a complete roster of the 8th with some statistical tables at the end.
Circa 1865 (post-Civil War).
