ARTIFACT: This is a scarce hardcover copy of the "Roster 8th New Hampshire Volunteers" along with a tinotype of the book's owner: Sergeant Albert Noyes of Amherst, New Hampshire. We know little about Noyes, save that he served in Company E, 8th N.H.V. He ironically died shortly after surviving the war, on December 21, 1866. He was posthumously memorialized a few years later upon a soldiers' statue erected by his hometown. The book includes a complete roster of the 8th with some statistical tables at the end.

VINTAGE: Circa 1865 (post-Civil War).

SIZE: pages. Approximately 9-1/4" in height and 6" in width and 1/2"; in thickness; tintype: 4" in height by 3-1/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Embossed cloth-bound cover, paper; tintype.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: A, Noyes Amherst, N.H. written inside.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJJX02 LBHEX6/13 SBHEX09/20

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The book is in very fine condition with only minor aging; tintype is in good condition.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
