ARTIFACT:
Rare, pre-War / early WWII United States Air Corps / USAC / USAAF / United Stated Navy / USN / USMC Aviator Sunglasses by American Optical Company with the original leather case. The glasses feature celluloid nose pads and nice lightly green tinted lenses. The case is leather with nice embellishments and a flap closure with a steel snap, the inside is lined with polished cotton. The reverse of the case shows the name: "ELMO WILSON". The lack of bridge / guard / protector dates this pair to pre-war or very early WWII.

Circa 1940.
SIZE:
Approximately: Lenses: 2" in height x 2-3/8" in width; overall 5/3-8" total length x 4-1/4" length of arm; Case: 6" in length x 2-1/4" in width x 1-1/2" in depth.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Tinted glass, steel, celluloid nose guard, leather, polished cotton.
ATTACHMENT:
To be worn over eyes.

8- (Very Fine - Excellent): The sunglasses show minor wear, the lenses are in remarkable condition, some light oxidation to frame, the leather case is soft, overall very fine condition.
