ARTIFACT: This is rare pre-1937 Hitler Youth flying badge. A membership / qualification badge of sorts on par with being an Air Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. The badge shows a swastika on a winged propeller and reads WIR FLIEGEN (We fly). This badge was modeled from a "day badge"of an early (1934) DLV / HJ event that took place in Norderney, an island off the North Sea Coast of Germany.

The "Hitler Youth" was initially an organization formed to be the Nazi Party version of the Boy Scouts, and eventually to groom children to be a part of the German Military as they became young adults. As WWII dragged on, HJ members were indoctrinated into the military even before turning 18.

VINTAGE: Circa 1935 -1937.

SIZE: About 1-5/8" in width by 13/16" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver-plated brass with black paint.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin with saddle.

MARKINGS: PAULMANN & CRONE LUDEN= SCHEID.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Nazi militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VGEX08 LCGEX1/11 TrCGEX2/14

CONDITION: 6 (Fine+): The badge shows areas of moderate to heavy wear and tarnish.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
