Description
ARTIFACT:
This is a rare mid - 1960's Vietnam War United States Army 170th Assault Helicopter Company Armored Helicopter Platoon BUCCANEER Tab, made in-country. The unit arrived in Vietnam in 1965 and was stationed at Camp Holloway in Pleiku, Republic of Vietnam. The unit participated in Operations Paul Revere I, II, III, & IV, Operation Attleboro, Operation Thayer, Operation Francis Marion, Operation MacArthur as well as emergency, re-supply, medical evaluation, and tactical extractions. The patch reads: "BUCCANEER" embroidered on olive drab canvas with black thread and the reverse features an olive colored knitted backing.

Circa mid - 1960's.
SIZE:
Approximately 3-3/8" in length x 1" in height.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:
Embroidered olive drab, knit (yarn) backing, silk/cotton/polyester thread.
