ARTIFACT:
This is a pair of the Iconic WWI US Aviator Goggles that any Allied Aviator who could, privately purchased during WWI: The LUXOR Goggles No. 5 by the E. B. Meyrowitz Company of New York, Paris, & London.
And this pair is in incredible, almost TIME CAPSULE Condition! Although I would not recommend it, one could theoretically don these goggles, hop into your biplane, and fly off into the Wild Blue Yonder. The pads are supple, the headband is elastic, and the goggles even have a bit of that "new car" scent going on! It would be nearly impossible to improve on these goggles.
And the case also is in a mostly mirror-like condition, with very little of the oxidative dullness that can take over 100+ year old aluminum. Only some very light discoloration to the headband allude to the fact that these Goggles were ever even worn. That, and a few light scuffs and pin-points of oxidation on the case are the only details that keep this pair of Goggles from being Mint as New!
These truly had some incredible storage over the last CENTURY!
Also add the fact that these Goggles have the coveted dark green Sunshade lenses, and this set would be the centerpiece of any WWI Goggle Collection.
