Description
This is a rare and historical circa 1939-1940 United States Air Corps sweetheart pin for Patterson Field outside of Dayton, Ohio. Dedicated to Lieutenant Frank Stuart Patterson in 1931, Patterson Field became Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in 194The pin is chained and consists of an enameled Air Corps pin joined to a gold-filled "Patterson Field" pennant flag pin. It is by Amico, and has a 1st type Amico hallmark on the reverse of the pennant pin.
VINTAGE:Circa 1939-1940.
SIZE:Approximately 5/16" in diameter (pin); approximately 7/16" in height and 9/16" in width (pennant pin).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-filled, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Pin with drop-in locking swivel catch (on each pin).
MARKINGS:1/20 10K G.F. on reverse of USAC pin; Amico hallmark (1st type) 1/20 10K G.F. on reverse of pennant.
