ARTIFACT: Rare and great WWII Homefront Woman Ordnance Worker Watertown, Massachusetts Arsenal shoulder patch. The golden yellow patch shows the initials: "WOW" in the center with a red flame embellishment and above reads: "WATERTOWN" and below: "ARSENAL". Woman Ordnance Workers stepped in to help during the war effort by filling the jobs once done by men. Now soldiers fighting for our freedom, the WOW's helped to keep production and business rolling during wartime.
NOTE: Patch was treated with some kind of glue, probably to go into a scrap book that has made the patch stiff and hard. It could no longer be sewn to a garment. It is more like a drink coaster at this point than a flexible cloth patch. It still LOOKS every part the patch, but does not feel it any longer. Dry cleaning, water, and a few other solvents had no effect on softening the patch.

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): NOTE: Patch was treated with some kind of glue, probably to go into a scrap book that has made the patch stiff and hard. It could no longer be sewn to a garment. It is more like a drink coaster at this point than a flexible cloth patch. It still LOOKS every part the patch, but does not feel it any longer.
