ARTIFACT:
This is a rare circa 1930 jacket patch for the United States Air Corps Detachment, Bolling Field of the District of Columbia. Organized April 1, 1928, the detachment was the predecessor to the ill-fated 14th Bomb Squadron, which was later formed on March 1, 1935. The patch is round and bordered in a layer of felt, showing the dome of the Capitol Building against a blue background.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1930.
SIZE:
Approximately 4-3/8" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Wool felt on felt embroidered in cotton/silk threads.
