Description
This is a rare circa 1920 Girl Scouts two-piece uniform in dark khaki. One piece is a large, loose-fitting tunic-style shirt and the other a full skirt with an extra small waist. The shirt has the Girl Scouts insignia on the collar points and buttons with insignia up the front of the shirt. There are also small buttons on the shoulder tabs and on the decorative stitched "flaps" of the breast pockets. The shirt has slightly cropped sleeves without cuffs. The skirt is full and has two pockets with decorative buttons like the shirt, and an attached belt.
VINTAGE:Circa 1920.
SIZE:Shirt (no size tag): approximately 21" from armpit to armpit; 29-1/4" length from center of back collar to hem; 15" from shoulder to shoulder along back; 21-1/2"" from shoulder seam to end of cuff. Skirt (no size tag): approximately 12-1/4" across waist, 29" in length.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Shirt: cotton muslin, brass buttons; collar insignia: cotton/silk thread embroidered upon cotton; skirt: cotton muslin, brass buttons, twill waist liner.
ATTACHMENT:Shirt: buttons (bottom one is missing), buttons on pockets and shoulder tabs; skirt: attached belt with button, double hook and eye closure inside, hidden snaps up front, buttons on pockets.
MARKINGS:8168 stamped inside shirt.

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine): The shirt shows some light wear and a few small spots of discoloration: there is one small cut mark by one armpit and the other armpit has similar small holes (one side is pictured above); bottom button on shirt is missing. Skirt shows light wear.
