ARTIFACT:
This is a rare circa 1935 to 1937 Pan American Airways (PAA) co-pilot wing and cap badge set. The wing is made of SOLID 10 karat gold and the badge gold plated brass. Both are clearly well preserved despite being worn. The wing is numbered 0167 on reverse.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1935-1937.
SIZE:
Wing: approximately 7/8" in height and 2-1/2" in width; cap badge: approximately 1-1/2" x 1-1/2".
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Wing: Die-struck enameled 10K Gold, Hat Badge: enameled heavily gold plated (gold filled?) brass.
ATTACHMENT:
Wing: horizontal pin with drop-in locking swivel catch; cap badge: single screw post with nut.
MARKINGS:
Stamp on back of wing: 10K ??? B (for "Base" meaning "Wing only, exclusive of findings") LGB for the Balfour Company. Wing (engraved) numbered 0167. No markings on cap badge.

CONDITION:
9 (Excellent): There is only very minor wear and light tarnishing, truly a wonderful example of this wing and hat badge.
