Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a beautiful and rare circa 1950 first officer wing 2nd issue for Bonanza Airlines (BAL) by O.C. Tanner of Salt Lake City, Utah. The wing comes on its original card and manufacturer's stamped envelope. Bonanza was started in 1945 by a trio including an ex-USN Lieutenant Commander, and flew until 1968, when it merged with other companies to form Air West. BAL flew largely within the southwestern United States, advertising their routes as following those of the "gold strikes".

VINTAGE:

Circa 1950.

SIZE:

Approximately 11/16" in height and 3-7/16" in width (not including card).

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt brass, enamel, oaktag card, paper envelope.

ATTACHMENT:

Two screw posts with disc backings.

MARKINGS:

O.C. TANNER CO. ,ANUFACTURING JEWELERS 42 WEST SECOND SOUTH SALT LAKE CITY 1, UTAH on envelope.

CONDITION:

8 (Excellent-): The wing has very little wear and the card/envelope have some light wear and creasing.
