Description
Rare 1939 dated United States Coast Guard soup bowl by Jackson China. The United States Light House Service was absorbed by the Coast Guard in 1939 and assumed the responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of all lighthouses and lightships. This bowl was perhaps made for use in a lighthouse. The bowl features a blue Coast Guard emblem of two anchors and a lifesaving ring that reads "UNITED STATES COAST GUARD 1790", the center of the ring features a US shield and the words: "SEMPER PARATUS".
