ARTIFACT:

Rare 1930's – WWII Ex-Marine Guards shoulder patch. This example, embroidered on twill with green thread and border reads: "EX-MARINE GUARD". Ex-Marine Guards was a civil security company that hired only men who had served as Marines to guard defense plants, monuments, etc. in Southern California. See the advertisement from Princeton University Marine Corps Chevron Volume 2, Number 27, 10 July 1943:

Embroidered on twill with cotton/polyester/silk thread, gauze backing

CONDITION:

6+ (Fine—Very Fine): The shoulder patch shows moderate to heavy wear, light fading and two snags to twill, the embroidered letters remain intact as does nearly all of the gauze backing, overall fine condition.
