ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1920s Coventry Eagle (CE) motorcycle "wings" badge. First known as a Victorian era bicycle manufacturer called Hotchkiss, Mayo & Meek, the company changed its name in 1897. They produced the popular "Flying 8" motorcycle model, among others. The badge is beautifully enameled in two shades of blue and has a Birmingham Medal Company maker mark on reverse. This came to us with two period British women's motorcycle race medals (please see link at bottom of page for more information – medals for sale separately).

VINTAGE: Circa 1920s.

SIZE: Approximately 9/16" in height and 1-1/2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled brass.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal T-style pin with C catch (catch is damaged and delicate – would need to be repaired for badge to be worn).

MARKINGS: BIRMINGHAM MEDAL CO.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an early British motorcycle badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MDJX14 LAFEX3/14 SAFEX7/16

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The badge has some very light wear and tarnish; catch is damaged and delicate – would need to be repaired for badge to be worn.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
