ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1890s Imperial German child's lion head cavalry saber. A miniature version of the officer's sword, this saber comes with its original scabbard. A fierce lion's head tops the grip made of horn, and there is a smaller feline head at the tip of the guard. There are some nice decorative details, including the cameo of a child or angels' head on one side of the guard.

VINTAGE: Circa 1890s.

SIZE: Saber: approximately 23-3/4" in length and 4-1/4" in width; scabbard: approximately 21-1/2" in length and 1-1/4" in width; blade only: approximately 19-1/2" in length and 5/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Brass guard and trim, steel blade and scabbard, horn grip.

ATTACHMENT: Rings on scabbard.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an Imperial Germany collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. KEZAR VAJJX12 LEGEX1/13 SCJJX3/16

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The saber has some areas of light to medium wear to the blade and the scabbard has some oxidation and a few small dents.
