Description
This is a rare circa 1850s to 1860s United States Revenue (United States Customs) inspector Port of New York. United States Customs has existed since the 1790s, and the title on this badge is an earlier type of title. The badge is in die-stamped coin silver with a hand-engraved title and number. There is a nice brass T-style pin on reverse.
VINTAGE:Circa 1850s-1860s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-7/8" in height and 1-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Die-stamped coin silver, brass pin.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical T-style pin with C catch.
MARKINGS:109 on front.
