Description
This is a circa 1896 celluloid advertising pin for the American Pepsin Gum Company. The pin pre-dates the Spanish-American War, and features the USS Concord, part of the nation's up-and-coming "White Squadron". Commissioned February 14, 1891, the Concord went on to serve during the Spanish-American War, participating in the defeat the Spanish at the Battle of Manila Bay. She was decommissioned in 190The pin is by Whitehead & Hoag of Newark, New Jersey.

SIZE:Approximately 7/8" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Celluloid-wrapped tin, paper backing.
ATTACHMENT:Straight pin.
