Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a scarce circa pre-1933 Nazi NSDAP (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpart) Jugend belt buckle. Originally created in 1922, the "Jugendbund der NSDAP" (Youth League of the NSDAP) took direction from the SA (Sturmabteilung). Over the next three years the group was renamed twice more. During this time of reorganization, the member uniform was varied, but included an HJ (Hitlerjugend) armband. In 1925 the members emulated the NSDAP "Brownshirts" by unilaterally donning the same. This belt buckle was in use prior to the introduction in 1933 of the signature buckle design the group finally adopted.
