ARTIFACT: This is a William McKinley and Garrett Hobart lapel stud. Vice President Hobart would die in office in 1899, as would McKinley during his second term two years later.

VINTAGE: Circa 1897-1899.

SIZE: About 3/4" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated copper with black enamel detail and gold elephant detail.

ATTACHMENT: Stud-back for inserting into lapel button hole.

MARKINGS: PATENT APL'D FOR.
