ARTIFACT: This is an Order of the Star of Romania, 2nd Class, 2nd Model neck badge. The award was officially instituted in 1877, hence the date on the reverse of the badge, although it came into existence thirteen years earlier. Eligibility for the award extends to both Romanians and foreigners, and was given for field bravery. The award is a beautifully enameled cross bearing the initials of King Carol and IN FIDE SALUS (In faith is the salvation). The cross is encircled by a wreath of Roman eagles and swords. This model is from 1932, and the suspension ring and crown that would have been at the top are missing.

VINTAGE: Circa 1932.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/16" in height and 2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver with enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Suspension loop missing.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Romanian militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAEJX12 LDGEX3/12 SLCGEX5/12

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge shows some light wear and some spots of tarnish. The badge is missing its crown and suspension loop.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
