Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a nice, clean Australian-made jacket patch made for the United States Army Air Forces 307th Bomb Group, 13th Air Force (aka "The Long Rangers"). The 307th was activated the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served in the Pacific Theatre flying B-24 Liberators after a stint patrolling the American northwest coastline. The group received two Distinguished Unit Citations and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. This patch shows a cat in a cowboy outfit riding a missile.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 4-3/4" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Red wool felt patch embroidered in cotton/silk threads with treated cotton backing.
