ARTIFACT: Nice early 1900's -1910's Alameda County, California Deputy Sheriff 6-point star badge. The nickel-plated nickel badge reads: "DEPUTY ALAMEDA COUNTY SHERIFF" in hand-stamped letters with black painted details. The first sheriff was elected in 1853, the same year the county was formed, and the first prisoners were jailed in 1854. Alameda is Spanish for "where the poplar trees grow" and the county was formed out of a large area of Contra Costa County and a smaller section of Santa Clara County.

VINTAGE: Circa 1900's - 1910's

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/4" x 2-1/4".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel plated nickel and paint.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety style pin with 'C' catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a police and law enforcement collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VCJJX15 LAAGEX5/15

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): Badge shows minor to moderate wear, mostly at high points, nearly all the plating and painted details remain intact.
