ARTIFACT:
Nice circa 1951 New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission Boat Inspector Badge with a nice S. M. Spencer maker's plaque on reverse. The center of the badge depicts the state seal and surrounding it reads: "SEAL OF THE STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE 1776" in embossed lettering. The badge is topped with a spread wing, bowed head, eagle and the badge reads: "INSPECTOR PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION NEW HAMPSHIRE" in black painted details and the base of the badge reads: "BOAT". The reverse maker's plate reads: "S. M. SPENCER MFG. CO. BOSTON". No longer under the public utilities commission's jurisdiction, boat inspection is now under the Department of Safety. This is a direct ancestral lineage badge for New Hampshire DOS Safety, Service, and Marine Patrol.
