Description
This is a great named World War I trench art letter opener showing an engraved representation of a DeHavilland 4 airplane, the sole US-manufactured airplane to participate in the Great War. The opener is in the "bottle opener" style with a large claw at one end. The handle end bears the original owner's name: N.C. WOOD. A shell makes up the opener's handle, and the bullet proper holds the blade.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Approximately 7-3/4" in length by 2-1/2" at its widest point.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass.
