This is a World War I trench art letter opener made from artillery round shrapnel. It has a very nice form and interesting texture to the handle. One side of the blade has engraved bands to mimic the guard of a dagger.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/4" in width and 8-3/4'" in length.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Shrapnel, steel.
ATTACHMENT:None.
MARKINGS:None.
