ARTIFACT:

This is a beautiful circa late 1920s or early 1930s gold front Deputy Sheriff badge for Contra Costa County, California. It in named to Donald H. Kellogg on a banner at the top, whose name is enameled in blue. The badge is a large and ornately designed, seven-point star with a raised State of California seal at the center. It was made by Ed Jones & Company of Oakland, California and is maker-marked on reverse. Contra Costa County is in the San Francisco Bay Area.

VINTAGE:

Circa late 1920s- early 1930s.

SIZE:

Approximately 2-3/8" in height and 2-7/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gold-front, enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical kick pin with forked locking catch.

MARKINGS:

DONALD H. KELLOGG on front; "Ed Jones & Co. Oakland, Cal. Gold Front" on reverse.

CONDITION:

8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has very little wear except some on reverse and a few tiny spots of oxidation.
